Dragon boat racing is an ancient team paddling sport which originated in China. Every year, citizens of Tianjin hold a grand dragon boat competition on the Haihe river during the Chinese traditional Duanwu festival (also called Dragon boat festival, which is the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional lunar calendar). The festival is supposed to commemorate a great ancient poet Quyuan. Three of the most widespread activities for Duanwu Festival are eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats.
