The huge Pumalin Park is one of the largest and most diverse private conservation projects in South America, located in the Province of Palena in Chile, south of the city of Puerto Montt. It extends from the heart of Los Andes to the fjords of the Pacific Coast and was declared "Sanctuary of Nature" in 2005 by the Chilean government.
