Thailand's First General Election Since 2014 Coup

BANGKOK, THAILAND - MARCH 31: Onlookers watch Thailand's "Red Shirts", a group which began in support of Thaksin Shinawatra and against the military government, as they protest at Ratchaprasong Shopping District in Central, Bangkok on March 31, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. Supporters of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra were positioning to have a recall of the election commission following the results of the March 24, 2019 general election. The Palang Pracha Rath Party (PPRP) took an unexpected lead in Thailand's first election since the army took power five years ago after a preliminary count by the Election Commission. After more than 90% of ballots were counted, early results have shown the pro-military party gained 7.6 million of the popular vote, half a million more than Pheu Thai, even though there have been growing amount of complaints about irregularities and inaccurate data.
